We had hoped to cook up a white Christmas, but instead we cooked up a white February! With as little snow as we are used to, we are excited to have enough to play in. We spent the day at the Sewanee Golf Course, sledding away!
There were many people there sledding too, so the kids got to play with friends…and I got to take pictures and talk to adults!! Doesn’t get much better than that!
(Left)Caroline, Grant and Tommy on their first run.(Right)Elise on her first of MANY trips down the hill.
Caroline said she felt up for the trip, but after about an hour, she was ready to go. Heath had to go to work, so she went with him. We were glad she felt up to joining us for the time she did! She says she had fun, but her feet were freezing.
Grant (King) trying to snow board on a sled down the hill.
With all the Olympics the boys have watched lately, they all thought they were Olympian snow boarders. By the end of the day, they could make it almost all of the way down while standing. That is impressive…but I don’t think there will be any Gold Medals coming their way in the future.
Jackson (King) spent most of his day trying to master the sled while standing. He never complained once, just tried, fell, got up and tried again.
Tommy cheering Grant on as he makes it down the hill. And Grant letting everyone know how proud of himself he is. Notice his right hand. Precious!
Tommy finally made it down while standing. He spent most of his day on a sled or making “moguls” for them to sled over.
Phillip and Ashley making their way down. Look at the change on Ashley’s face! The kids weren’t the only ones who had a great time!!
The girls think they both want to ride with Heath. They lose Elise about half way down (but she gets up with a smile)!
They decide to one at a time on the next ride.
And of course, there were crashes…
Grant takes the wipeout prize for the day! He was fine…it looks a lot worse in a picture than it did when it happened.
What comes down, must go back up…
I love this girl! She had a blast today. She loved sledding more than any of the other kids. She went again, and again, and again. Her first times back up the hill, she would say, “Somebody help me!” all the way up to the top. Once she discovered we weren’t running to pull it back up for her, she just did it. No complaints, no gripes. Just smiles all the way back down.
TO BE CONTINUED…
Snowball fight and Snowman to come…
(What I am saying is, I am tired and going to bed…I’ll blog the rest later.)
Oh, Leanne, they are wonderful! That Denise Kathleen just takes the cake!!
