We are home and all is good. Caroline is such a sweet girl! She did so well. Even putting her IV in, she sat so still and just watched. (Thanks to Heather, we put some numbing cream on it before we left to go to the hospital!) After the surgery her throat was very sore, but popsicles and ice chips helped with the pain until the medicine kicked in. She has her “nest” built on the couch, where I am sure she will spend the majority of the next several days. She is all snuggled in, sound asleep.
Elizabeth, her American Girl Doll, joined us on our journey. She even got to go to surgery with Caroline! I don’t have to tell you how happy this made Caroline!!! And, Mrs. Doris, a nurse in Same Day Surgery, gave us the name and phone number of a lady who lives in Decherd that makes and sells American Girl Doll clothes. We are going to see her once Caroline feels up to it. Caroline thinks Elizabeth needs a new outfit for going through surgery with her.
Heather let Caroline borrow a hat to wear into surgery so she wouldn’t have to wear one of the paper ones the hospital gives you. Caroline chose the “Lucky Charms” one.
She was proud of her IV. She asked me to take a picture of it, hoping to gross Tommy out. (He has a VERY weak stomach!)
Sound asleep after surgery and a purple popsicle (that’s what is all over her lips!)
Megan, she is doing great! I will make sure I get a picture of her eating her ice cream for you! She is excited to see you when she feels better!!!
What a trooper! Still all smiles :) I'm glad she's doing so well and I hope she gets lots of good spoiling while she's on the couch.
